Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John invites participants to think deeply about their life with Jesus and in their communities. Real life happens online and participants will need pastoral care online.
- Don’t ignore a troublesome comment. You must use your authority to intercede in a negative interaction. Refer participants to your group norms.
- Don’t ignore a distressing comment. If it’s clear someone is hurting, respond. You may not have the perfect words, but noticing a person’s pain is better than ignoring it. A simple “I’m sorry you are hurting” might be enough.
- Send a private message. If behavior is out of line with your group norms or you are concerned for the well-being of a participant, use the private messaging system.
- Ask for help.
